Trixie Calculator

Three selections, four bets — and no singles to soften the landing.

A Trixie covers three selections with three doubles and a treble. There are no singles, so one winner returns nothing at all — the bet only starts paying at two.

The same £4.00 on a single 3-fold accumulator would return £32.00 if everything won, against £20.00 here. The difference is what you are paying for the softer landing — and each line carries its own compounded margin, so this is a way to spread risk, not an edge.

Common questions

How much does a Trixie cost?
A Trixie is 4 separate bets, so your total stake is 4 times your stake per line. A £1 Trixie costs £4, not £1 — the single most common surprise with these bets, and the reason the calculator shows total stake before anything else.
How many bets is a Trixie?
4. It covers doubles, trebles across 3 selections. That count is fixed by the maths — it is every combination of those sizes — which is why every bookmaker's Trixie has exactly 4 lines.
How many winners do I need for a Trixie to pay out?
To get anything back, you need at least two winners before anything comes back. To actually profit is a different question and depends entirely on your prices — at short odds you can win most of your selections and still lose money, because the losing lines outnumber the winning ones. The scenario table shows the exact point where your ticket turns a profit.
What is the difference between a Trixie and a Patent?
Three singles, and they change the bet completely. A Patent is a Trixie plus a single on each selection — 7 bets instead of 4. Those extra 3 stakes are what buy you a return when only one selection wins, which a Trixie gives you nothing for.
